HARMONIOUS DUALITY
Sometimes, people mix up the yin-and-yang duality with the concept of dualism. They are not the same thing. Dualistic thinking revolves around good versus evil. The duality of the Tao, on the other hand is all about energies balancing and harmonizing with each other.
There is tremendous power in harmonious balance, as energies cooperate, collaborate and co-create outstanding results. One example of this principle is the relationship between coach and athlete. The athlete already knows training methods, but the coach is still necessary, indeed critical to the process. The two are complements; each is incomplete without the other. When they come together in harmony, they become conduits to the Tao that manifests as superb athletic performance.
Make use of this principle. You are also capable of doing far more for other people than you do for yourself. The right people in your life will bring out the best in you. This is a beautiful aspect of human nature, and it is one of the hidden lessons of the yin and yang symbol.
The Tao Today
Like a star athlete, you possess far more power than you can express when you work alone. Look for people who can be your coach and bring out the best in you. At the same time, also keep the flip side in mind. Be a great coach for your friends. Bring out their best and let them shine as the star athletes of life.
