THE MUST-HAVE

When it comes to life and the fulfillment of destiny, none of us can do it alone. We need other people. They are not a nice-to-have; they are a must-have.

Perhaps due to our cultural emphasis on individualism, we may think of life as a one-man or one-woman show. We may say we do not need anyone else. This is the ego talking. The truth is if you climb to the top all by yourself, without your loved ones, it won’t mean anything to you. Alone at the top, unable to share with anyone, you will probably want to jump off, just to end the miserable emptiness.

We have to face the reality that we need others. People who care about you are your crucial support system. Hang on to them and never take them for granted.

The Tao Today

The circular nature of the Tao is such that you are just as crucial to others as they are to you. You play a supporting role in their personal stories, just as they play supporting roles in yours. You will always be there for them, just as they have always been there for you. To them, you are not a nice-to-have. You are a must-have.
