WE ARE ONE

One of the interesting things when you delve deeper into the Tao is that you begin to perceive oneness and connectedness everywhere. For instance, you will notice something happening in one aspect of your life, and see in it a similarity or a pattern that you recognize from a completely different aspect.

It feels as if you have pulled back the veil of reality, so you can see the underlying essence. Lurking just below the surface, there is a complex web of karmic connections that ties everything together. Your physical senses may suggest that ours is a world of boundaries and divisions, but this is an illusion that starts to fade as you get further into the Tao. When you finally arrive at the spiritual level, the illusion will be completely gone.

The Tao Today

The underlying reality of oneness is something we can glimpse from time to time. There are, for instance, deeply immersed states of meditative trance where one can feel this oneness directly. This is helpful, but even when we are not practicing meditation, the truth is ever constant: at the most fundamental level of the Tao, we are one.
