There is power in the small. We may be told to look at the big picture, but in the Tao. it is the little details that reveal the greater truths.

You may come across someone with big talk and big plans. How can you tell if he is for real? The best way is to look at the small details of his words and deeds, instead of at the grand vision of the talk and plans. If the details reveal carelessness and sloppiness, nothing else matters. Everything is built up from smaller components; every objective is made up of smaller tasks. Details matter.

Everything in life can be evaluated from this perspective: companies, organizations, employers, merchants, service providers and so on. For someone who knows the Tao, it is always the little things that make the biggest difference.

The Tao Today

Pay special attention to the little things in problems and people. The more clearly you see the details, the more you will discover insights that are not apparent at first glance. Some insights lead you to solutions; others lead you to a better understanding of hidden agendas. The more you work with the Tao of the small, the more you will appreciate its subtle yet undeniable power.
